Who Gets the Food?

Who Gets the Food?

We collect thousands of pounds of food every two months. Where does it go?

The PRAY BIG! Food Pantry operates out of St. Matthews Episcopal Church. It serves more than 1,871 residents annually.

The pantry originally began to in 2013 help Awbrey Park Elementary School. They wanted to have a pantry for the students and their families, but didn’t have space for a pantry. St. Matthews’ members stepped up and created a mobile pantry with FOOD for Lane County for one year. After one year of learning how to operate a food pantry, PRAY BiG! became a partner agency with FFLC.

Pantry hours are 2nd Tuesday of the month from 5:30 pm–7 pm and the Last Saturday of the month 10 am–11:30 am. The pantry dates may change in November and December due to closures at FFLC.

Shoppers are referred by FFLC, our website, community and government resource groups, 211 call center, word of mouth, flyers and posters.

Anyone who meets the income guidelines is eligible to receive food.  Shoppers need to bring proof of address and their own shopping bags. Income verification isn’t required, nor is citizenship.

Volunteers worked 816 hours in 2017/2018 fiscal year.
